Every artist puts a piece of themselves into their music. But what happens when that creation needs more than an upload link? What happens when an artist wants official documentation to support their ownership?
SwaLay Digital has taken an important step towards answering that question.

Through its My D.N.A™ (Digital Notarization & Authentication) service, SwaLay has facilitated its first successful government copyright registration for an independent artist. The artist, Srinivasa Bhattar Srivedavyasa, has received a copyright certificate from the Copyright Office, Government of India, for his Telugu song, "Simham Singlegane Vastundi." The certificate carries a registration date of 31 October 2026.
For SwaLay, this is more than a certificate. It is the first successful outcome of an initiative designed to make copyright registration easier for independent musicians.
Traditionally, many artists have found the registration process difficult to navigate. Understanding documentation, completing formalities and submitting applications can discourage creators who simply want to focus on making music.
My D.N.A™ aims to simplify that journey. The process includes identity verification, electronic signing, e-stamping and assistance with filing the application under the Copyright Act, 1957. The application is examined and the final registration decision rests entirely with the Copyright Office. The certificate is issued by the Government of India, not by SwaLay.
Copyright registration is not mandatory for copyright to exist in India. However, an official registration certificate can serve as important evidence in an ownership dispute. That makes this service a meaningful step for independent creators.
SwaLay believes that access to rights protection should not depend on an artist's popularity, location or financial resources. Whether someone is releasing their first song from a small town or building a professional music career, their creative work deserves recognition and protection.
The first certificate has been granted. Now, SwaLay wants to help many more artists take the same step.
Because creating music is an achievement. Having your ownership officially documented is another.
